BUGS in JS? on DropQuotes/ Scoring

I keep consistently hitting what seems to be a JavaScript bug - or like it - on a MacBook pro wherein the letters do not 'drop' down, and it does not advance on it's own. As I try to keep 100% success rate, when this occurs, it takes a LOT of time, and for the longer ones it is very annoying.
This is an old bug - at least for the MAC and both CHROME and Safari.

Anyone else hit this? Puzzle Barron folks?? Ideas?

PS: Scoring is really odd - tie with a fastest score should be a higher score.
Breaking a record should double - or at least something. AND really long ones (not as fun by far) should be VERY high scores.

Yes, this happens often and it is very frustrating. What I do, once I realize that is happening, is go up to recent games and click on the puzzle you are working on - it will say "retry?" at this point. It usually solves the problem.
